WB Games seeks an Engineering Manager for its San Francisco office.

What part will you play?

As Engineering Manager, you are responsible for building and managing an Engineering team which can deliver world a class game at the highest standards. You will partner with other team leads and managers to ensure engineering goals are aligned with business goals.

In this role you will have the opportunity to ensure that our engineering team is productive and motivated by managing the hiring and career growth of each member. You care about team culture and the development of each individual, and are constantly assessing each team member to ensure they are able to remain focused on consistently delivering quality software, while also identifying opportunities to help engineers grow into Leads or Managers.

You will also partner with Production and QA to ensure timely, quality software releases by participating in the development process. You will ensure Engineering’s involvement early in the feature spec life-cycle, and will be responsible for scheduling, tasking and monitoring of engineering assignments and progress.
  • Coach, manage and mentor studio Engineers.
  • Participate in development process.
  • Review and maintain coding standards, oversee code review processes.
  • Interviewing / Hiring / Onboarding / Recruiting.
  • Performance Reviews.
  • Define Roles and Responsibilities for Engineering team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What do we require from you?
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent industry experience and success.
  • At least 5 years of game industry experience.
  • Experience in a live software operations engineering team with frequent releases/updates is a must.
  • Experience managing a group of engineers.
  • Experience with Unity3d development.
  • Mobile free-to-play experience is a plus.
  • Experience programming in 3 or more languages, C# a plus.
  • Knowledge of Unity3d game engine.
  • Understands all aspects of the software development process.
  • Experience in full-stack game development.
  • Knowledge of software design practices including architecture, client / server programming and software design patterns.
  • Knowledge of mobile platforms, middleware technologies.
  • Experience working with internal and externally developed code.
  • Strong Documentation / Presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for knowledge sharing to avoid single points of failure.
  • Model leadership behaviors and maintain positive working culture.
