WB Games’ Mobile Publishing team is recruiting an Executive Director, Publishing & User Acquisition to serve as the senior digital acquisition leader on mobile and console, along with being responsible for installs and ad tech strategy. As our games are based on some of the most recognizable brands/franchises in the entertainment world, this role is highly visible and important to building WB Games as a leading publisher of mobile games.

What part will you play?

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years’ experience in the user acquisition field, a deep history of working on top 10 grossing mobile games, experience managing $100M+/year user acquisition budgets and a history of building enterprise value via ad serving technology. This candidate will also have experience buying both on and offline media.

In this role, you will manage a team of User Acquisition professionals and partner closely with Analytics on building an ad tech roadmap. You will work to build a strategic distribution advantage by way of growing installs both paid and organic. Additionally, you’ll partner with finance to refine OI optimizing models based on spend levels and payback time horizons. You will drive all aspects of the User Acquisition discipline from building and developing a team, the development and maturation of relationships with key partners ranging from ad networks, platforms and agencies, developing strategies and tactics and communicating with internal stakeholders regarding performance.

This role reports into the Vice President, Mobile Publishing based in San Francisco.

  • Team leadership. Organize and lead the User Acquisition team. This includes the definition of roles and responsibilities, allocation of resources, and the hiring, management and mentorship of all direct reports.
  • Install and ad tech strategy. Build a digital distribution advantage for WB.
  • Organic strategy. Build a multi touch attribution model with Analytics and a dynamic system to spend on the output.
  • Aligned execution. Work closely with publishing colleagues in brand and product marketing as well as the game teams to ensure smooth and effective execution of all campaigns in support of the games’ growth.
  • Channel management. Own, and assign ownership of, relationships with channel partners such as Facebook, Google, Apple, Video Networks and other performance media publishers.
  • Testing & New Opportunities. Drive the exploration, testing and execution of new media channels/campaigns/creatives.
  • Reporting. Define reporting requirements and cadence for all media channels to partner teams and executives. Deliver post-campaign performance reporting and work with Marketing Analytics team on deeper analysis.
  • Thought leadership. Be a thought leader and User Acquisition evangelist for how to build and grow games audiences in a digital, service-based environment with the player’s experience and the game’s success central to our efforts.
  • Insights: Initiate insights studies to help inform marketing strategies and communications. Leverage insights derived from multiple sources to form conclusions and recommendations.
  • Finance: Manage budgets and headcount against objectives and deliverables.
  • Lifetime Value: Evangelize focus on ROI-positive User Acquisition driving increasing sophistication of cohort analysis and predictive lifetime value.
What do we require from you?
  • BA/BS required; MBA preferred.
  • A strong candidate for this position should have 10+ years of experience in driving consumer acquisition across diverse marketing channels across mobile and web, with a history of enabling growth via innovative and data influenced campaigns. The candidate will have experience working on top 10 grossing mobile applications and managing $100M+/year user acquisition budgets. The ideal candidate will have also built scalable ad tech with enterprise value. The ideal candidate will have intimate experience with ad-serving platforms and digital monitoring solutions.
  • In addition, successful experience building and managing a high performing team as a leader and manager as well as via hands on execution is critical, as is experience managing the budget, forecasting and analysis of User Acquisition campaigns.
  • 10+ years user acquisition experience.
  • Significant experience working on top 10 grossing mobile games.
  • Significant experience working with and building ad tech.
  • Significant experience working with OI models.
  • Significant experience working with auctions.
  • Experience working both in western and APAC markets.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely convey market dynamics, strategies, tactics, rationale and results, to executive, studio and mobile publishing colleagues.
  • Best in class knowledge of the mobile User Acquisition environment, including top channels and techniques.
  • Comfortable and accomplished with using data and information to drive results and iteration, including proficiency with A/B testing, bidding media and marketing program optimization, as well as for tracking and reporting KPIs measuring performance.
  • Exceptional organizational and project planning skills to manage multiple projects with varying and/or overlapping deadlines and deliver exceptional work.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership acumen; ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving market; accustomed to being flexible and agile to accommodate changing priorities as market conditions and game performance dictates.
  • Proficiency with standard office software including Excel, Word, Powerpoint; SQL a bonus.
  • Ability to travel as required to visit with and partner with Studios and collaborate with colleagues in Burbank.
